The "Essentials" Drive for the Women's & Homeless SheltersIn our current economic crisis, there are a lot of women and families in need. Some have lost their homes and have had to move into homeless shelters. Some are suffering from abuses that we may never understand and are hiding in safe places around our area. When things like this happen, these people are leaving their homes with very little, sometimes nothing more than the clothes on their backs. They don’t even have the most basic, necessary items like a toothbrush, toothpaste or even shampoo. The Carolina Hurricanes Booster Club wants to help by creating a stockpile of essentials for our local women’s and homeless shelters here in the Triangle. But we can’t do this without your help. We need to collect basic items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, cleansers, etc. (Nothing with alcohol.) They don’t have to be full size. They can be little trial sizes. Our primary target is our local women’s shelters. Whatever we have left over will go to our local homeless shelters. Either way, these people need to feel as if they have some dignity, even if it’s nothing more than a toothbrush.So help us out and bring toiletries. You’d be amazed at how something so small can do so much for one person who has so little. Thanks for your help.

Critters Home PagePlease join the fun while the CHBC, Bearemy, Stormy and the Storm Squad build bears for our 6th Annual Caniac Critters project. Our goal this year is to beat the 250 furry friends we delivered to kids in NC Childrens, Duke, WakeMed, and Rex Hospitals, but without YOU this won't happen.
Join us on Saturday Feb 20, 2010 from 10am til 2pm (maybe later), to stuff and fluff the bears at the Build-A-Bear Workshop® at the Streets at Southpoint Mall, in Durham.
